Good to know

  • From July 2026 the GST/HST credit is paid as the Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit (CGEB): same eligibility, with amounts 25% higher through 2031.
  • For July 2026 to June 2027 the maximum is $679 for a single person, $890 for a couple and $234 per child under 19.
  • A one-time top-up equal to half of a person’s 2025–26 credit was paid on June 5, 2026.
  • If your quarterly amount would be under $50, the whole year is paid in one lump sum in July.

+What if my GST/HST credit payment doesn't arrive?

Wait 5 working days (10 for a cheque) after the payment date before contacting the government. Payments by direct deposit usually arrive on the morning of the payment date.
