Questions people ask
+Which provinces have HST?
Ontario (13%), and Nova Scotia (14%), New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador and Prince Edward Island (15%). HST combines the 5% GST and the provincial sales tax into one tax.
+Which provinces have no provincial sales tax?
Alberta and the three territories (Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut). You pay only the 5% GST there.
+Is PST charged on top of GST?
No. In BC, Saskatchewan and Manitoba the provincial tax and Quebec’s QST are each charged on the price before GST, not on the GST. So 5% GST plus 7% PST is 12% of the price.
